According to the connotation and denotation of concept, the double-reference phrase is divided into three types:Taozhi, Dengzhi and Hezhi. On this basis, grammatical features of different types of the double-reference phrase are discussed, which is based on the theory of three dimensions:syntactic, semantic and pragmatic. The conclusion follows:On syntactic feature, the first term and the last term stand side by side in each types of double-reference phrase. But the wholeness of structure increases gradually from Dengzhi, Taozhi to Hezhi. From the viewpoint of semantic relations, the first term and the last term in Taozhi are defining and defined relationship; in Dengzhi, they make clear for each other; and in Hezhi, they are complementary relationship. Different types of double-reference phrase need different requirements to integrate.Pragmatically, because the expressive function is different for each type of double-reference phrase, the selectivity is obvious. Specifically, it mainly focuses on delivering new information for Taozhi; Dengzhi gives priority to describe the features of the referring expression; and the main function of Hezhi is showing respect, expressing emotions or distinguishing itself from others. On structure origin, as an analytic language, Chinese lacks conformational changes in strict sense determines, which is driving the development of double-reference phrase. And, language economy principle, fine expression and to pursue newfangled expression are important mechanisms to promote development different types of the double-reference phrase. At last, iconicity and cognitive prominence are also one of structure origins.
