"Wen Zi" as one of twenty-two scholars'works is the shining example of Chinese ancient culture. It is self-contained on the basis of concentrating many ideas which include Taoism, Confucianism and the thought of Legalism etc. However, The long time span causes no specific and detailed historical records for its author, writing times and ideological contents, which produces later people's many doubts for every aspect of "Wen Zi". So scholars raise their own ideas and opinions from different point of view, which can be described as the benevolent see benevolence and the wise see wisdom. This paper argues that the research for " Wen Zi" has never ceased since the Han Dynasty and scholars of different ages make a lot of research for "Wen Zi" from different point of view. These scholars make great efforts to find out the real person named "Wen Zi", his producing era and the text itself. Scholars have basically agreed that the thought of "Wen Zi" inherits from "Lao Zi" whose the most important thought is about "Dao" and "De", while the thought of "Dao" and"De" is the core idea of "Wen Zi". The introduction of the paper studies mainly the version and the research history of "Wen Zi" in order to explore directly the thought of "Dao" and "De" in "Wen Zi". The first and the second chapter discuss respectively from concepts, classification, performance, characteristics, attitudes, role of "Dao" and "De",the ways for getting "Dao".Finally,author compare the thought of "Dao" and "De" in "Wen Zi" with the thought in other famous works. The third chapter analyzes from summarizes characters,including the style, features of language, writing logic and features in "Wen Zi". It can be said that the body of the paper studies "Wen Zi" from the perspective of thought and art.
