Song Ci also mentioned as Song Lyrics or Ci Poems, a special genre of literature, plays a significant role in the history of Chinese classics. Its refinement and subtlety earn a lot of attention and praise. Compared with Tang Poetry, it enjoys a more flexible form and can express more refined, more delicate and more subtle feelings. Ci Poem in the Song Dynasty is divided into two schools:gentle and restrained school, heroic and unconstrained school. As the leader of the graceful and restrained school, Li Qingzhao is distinguished for her elegance in diction, lucidness in style and profundity in poetic feeling.With refined language, elegant style and rich cultural images, Ci poem is considered a treasure of Chinese classics. However, its translation remains an intimidating enterprise for lack of universally applicable translation standard.This thesis is a tentative study on the translation of Li Qingzhao's Ci Poems from the perspective of Xu Yuanchong's translation aesthetics, "Three Beauties". The first part is a review of Li Qingzhao's Ci Poems translation and review on criticism of Xu Yuanchong's translaton theory. Next, the thesis probes into an overview of the developing history and representative personages of Song Ci. As the representative of gentle and restrained school, Li Qingzhao is the most outstanding poetess in Song Dynasty. Then the thesis illustrates the beauty in sound, form and sense in Li's Ci Poems and introduces three different schools of Li Qingzhao's Ci Poems translation and their representatives. In the third part of the thesis, Xu Yuanchong's life experience, his works and his translation theories, such as ontology of poetry translation, "Three Beauties", methodology, "Three Hua" and teleology "Three Zhi" are introduced."Three Beauties" in the translation of Li's Ci Poems are illustrated in the next part. The thesis illustrates the "Three Beauties" in sound, in form and in sense of the Li's Ci Poems translation. This chapter is the main body of the thesis which is also concluding a detailed analysis of seven English versions of Ru Meng Ling by Li Qingzhao from the perspective of Xu Yuanchong's translation aesthetics, "Three Beauties".Based on the above discussions, the thesis arrives at the conclusion that "Three Beauties" can be used as reference to guide, evaluate and criticize Li Qingzhao's Ci Poems translation, making the target language readers aesthetically satisfied.
