The concept and the conservation movement of intangible cultural heritage have become the focus of media since 2000 in our society,which is the work of academia,government and the public cultural cooperation. In 2008, the folk instrument of Ningxia was selected national intangible cultural heritage,including the Kouxian in Hui Autonomous Region.Hui is the abbreviation of an unique minority in our country. It is gradually formed both by the domestic and foreign ethnic groups in Chinese feudal society period. Hui is a national fusion which merged together by Islam and the Chinese nation, Hui ethnic music came into being on the basis of inherited the traditional Islam music and mixed together with the Chinese music. It has its own unique cultural connotationandmusicfeatures. Kouxian is exactly such kind of an original instrument which is very popular in Hui nationality regions such as Yellow River and the southern parts of Liupan mountain areas. Kouxian originated from ancient times and it has so many different types, shapes and performance characteristics. Kouxian embodies the inherent characteristics of Hui nationality music culture as the form of entertainment for the women of Hui nationality. In the thousands of years of inheritance, it always kept tension with the religious belief, and it aims to pursue the balance and harmony of music and beliefs.Its long history of mining is not only the ancestors of the cultural heritage, but also the consolation of the national spirit. At the same time it will be a new awareness of the arts of traditional folk culture as in real life which can learn from the information on the transmission of intangible cultural. It is no doubt that Kouxian plays a positive role in promoting.
