Associative Characters' Pattern Of Shuowen JieZi Based On Knowledge-Body

ShuoWen JieZi ("ShuoWen"for short) is always known as the foundation of Chinese traditional language and characters'theories. Almost all the famous scholars, who studied on ShuoWen, had noticed the reticular connection in the book's content. But due to human thinking ability and research tools'limit, it is impossible for them to fully describe such an elaborate multi-dimensional system of Chinese ancient characters'pattern, sound and meaning only using the traditional methods.The digital technology should be fully used to promote the research of ShuoWen further in this information age. The associative characters of ShuoWen are chosen as the breakthrough point in this thesis to explore the research methods of Chinese language and characters by mutually taking the advantages of digital technology in storage, retrieval and calculation.This thesis, under the guidance of modern systematic methodology, using the theories and methods of the morphemicology of Chinese characters, knowledge engineering and computer technology, has put forward the concept Knowledge-Body(KB) after the comprehensive survey of various knowledge representation. And it inferred that different methods of knowledge representation should be used to describe the variable knowledge of the associative characters of ShuoWen for digitalizing. Furthermore, it has constructed digital models of different kind of knowledge of the pattern of associative characters of ShuoWen, including expository knowledge, procedural knowledge and control knowledge. It can provide the study on ShuoWen and other related areas with some more new substantial evidence and thoughts.This thesis mainly has four parts.The Theoretical model is proposed in chapter 2. After expounding the concept of knowledge and its classification and comprehensive inspection of existing knowledge representation techniques, KB is raised as the core concepts of this thesis and the KB of the pattern of associative characters of ShuoWen is constructed as the theoretical basis for further research.The basic material is digitalized in Chapter 3. Reference to the methods of ancient books'digitization and corpus linguistics, the corpus of the associate character of ShuoWen is constructed for the collection, processing and storage of its expository knowledge, which provides the basic materials for this thesis.The knowledge base is constructed in Chapter 4. The expression of the pattern of Chinese characters in ShuoWen is reanalyzed using the theories and methods of the morphemicology of Chinese characters, and the knowledge base of the associative characters of ShuoWen is constructed for the collection and storage of its procedural knowledge using the mathematical model tree.The method of the development of the research system of the pattern of associate Chinese character of ShuoWen is discussed in Chapter 5 under the guidance of the Software Engineering (SE), which is developed to characterize its control knowledge and to make further exploration of the method by using Information technology, especially knowledge representation technology for the study of ShuoWen.
