In order to study the Lamb Bone Custom and its related symbolic meanings among Chahar Mongols, the essay mainly focused on the study of regional banners in Xilin Gol League of Inner Mongolia, China, by reading relevant literature and investigating through a field study, which includes Bordered Yellow Banner, Plain and Bordered White Banner and Plain Blue Banner (Xulun Hoh Banner). This essay consists of four sections, namely an introduction, two main chapters, a conclusion and references. The introduction includes an abstract, aims and purposes and investigating methods. Briefly, in chapter one, a specific description is introduced to the typical customs of shoulder blade ceremony and relevant bone ceremonies of the Lamb Bone Custom among Chahar Mongols; In chapter two, we study the symbolic meaning of Bone Customs through a profound analysis, and we find three symbols, namely the power and influence, the perseverance and the reproduction. In spite of that we also discussed the taboos of Bone Custom such as in dining and guest inviting. In conclusion, the essay summarized the Chapter Mongols'advocating and formation of Lamb Bone Customs and their symbolic significance.
