With the further development of the economy and the opening up policy, vocational higher education has been in vigorous development. Many vocational colleges mushroom with business English as one of the specialties. With vague orientation, business English as specialty has got many problems in curriculum setting, such as its failure in meeting vocational needs, and the failure in matching the courses both in class and in work position. Hence, reforms in specialty in business English have become an urgent need.In this pager, the research, taking the theory of Hutchinson and Water's "Need Analysis" as the basis, tries to explore the needs of the market of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Development Zone and learners' needs as the major sources of information, and tries to get the basic information of the enterprises, the graduates, the senior students and the teachers, target needs, learner's needs and their lacks in knowledge, their needs in certificates and their evaluation on curriculum provision. With the survey, the research has got better knowledge of the major positions for a business English major---- international trading, Customs Clearance and Inspection Declaration, translation and international secretarial, etc. and learns that what the students lack most are practical knowledge in business and'the service procedures.According to the information from the survey, the research probes into the problems in curriculum provision of Business English in Guangxi Technological College of Machinery and Electricity, and then discusses the reasons for them. With these, the research provides suggestions to re-set a new curriculum provision to meet the needs of the markets and the students. First, with a better understanding of practicality and adequacy, integrate the knowledge of English and business with more professionalism. Second, select the projects from the real work and attach more importance to the design of the situation in the training. Third, the training should scaffold in difficulty and integrate the knowledge learned. Last, more cooperation between the college and the enterprises should be established so that the expert-worker can join in the curriculum setting, and the building of the training bases on and out of the campus.Last, the research emphasizes that curriculum setting is a hard and complicated work that involves professional teachers' long-term research, exploration and continuous study.
