There are still a number of problems concerning about vocational education in China. On the one hand, teachers are working with overloads while students are studying without efficiency. On the other hand, not much acceptable outcome from such current teaching and studying could meet enterprises' requirements over their new recruits. As for how to shift the common tendency of "theories teaching" to the proper orbit of "task-oriented" for the vocational Business English courses, it is advised to be reformed in wide-range for the Business English major over teaching objective, teaching mode, courses planning, contents selecting, course mode, teaching organization, assessment and evaluation,etc.To tackle these problems, this thesis proposes to start a survey on the market requirements for vocational Business English majors. With a post-focused perspective, the thesis will be analyzing, for higher vocational Business English majors, tasks of work, fixing down teaching objective, restructuring course mechanism, researching the related theoretical backup for reforming vocational Business English courses, developing course projects and the way that all eventually to be put into practice.This thesis consists of five chapters as follows:Chapter 1 IntroductionThe contents and purpose of this research are proposed by analyzing the problems about domestic higher vocational Business English teaching. The research of vocational education mode at home and abroad, business talents education and Business English courses are also being analyzed and compared. As a result, theresearch ideas and methods are put forward.Chapter 2 Theoretical principle of task-oriented curriculum developmentThe basic approach of task-oriented curriculum development is put forward according to the characteristic of vocational courses. Using the experience of CBE/DACUM in Canada, several key issues are discussed such as the design of teaching aim, the design of course system, the development of curriculum contents,and the design of assessment methods.Chapter 3 Design of course system for higher vocational Business EnglishThe educational objective is established through market research manner. The course structure is constructed for vocational Business English major by analyzingwork task and occupational competency, over which the course system is designed.Chapter 4 Task-oriented Project-course development of Business English The key steps of project-course developing and project-based reform of key courses for Business English is studied. The course criterion of Business Interpreting and Practices of International Trade are mapped out. Projects of courses are designed and developed. Experiment of project-teaching is studied. It is desired to find a good way of increasing teaching efficiency, guaranteeing teaching quality, and sharpening the students' capability of Business English integrated application.Chapter 5 Teaching practice of project-based reform for Business EnglishSimulated company is organized, the true environment of project-teaching for International Trade(bilingual) is set up. Teaching practice of project-based reform is implemented, using two module of export item and import item for example. The relevant assessment criterion is established. All these research are beneficial for task-oriented curriculum reform of Business English.
