The dialect of Binhai is classified as the Yanghuai type of Jianghuai Dialect. Binhai county is in the northeast of the Yancheng city, eastwardly the Yellow sea, the southwestern is the Funing county, the southern is the Sheyang county, and the northern is the Xiangshui county divided by a River. Binhai became an aggraded valley plain by the Yellow River not long time ago. Since people are immigratory, Binhai dialect has a unique dialect features. In recent years, it's a common phenomenon for the young adults in the country to work outside the home, dialects connection have become frequent, and the coastal dialect are constantly changing, so the coastal dialects have important research value and significance.The research is base on the field research, in-depth investigation and the first-hand information, with the support of the speech software. Through a large number of investigations by the word table and in the synchronic and diachronic comparison of the two-way phonetic system, this article is going to make the comprehensive study of Binhai dialects, the ancient and modern evolution. By the basic research on the Binhai dialect, it will lead to the in-depth analysis of special phenomena and speech problems for historical reasons, the true face and the characteristics of dialects. The article is including of four chapters.Chapter 1 introduces Binhai geography, history and population, the dialect's general situation, and the history of past researches on the dialect, illuminates the values and methods of the research and narrates the native speakers and the symbols used briefly.Chapter 2 is about the initial system and consisted of three sections. It describes the overall system and the features, compares the Binhai dialect with the Ancient initial's system by a large number of cases of Initial investigation, and concludes the rule of Binhai dialect. Finally there is a studying on the several initials in groups, namely, z c s initials, n 1 r initials and evolution of the initial of "y(?)". From a historical perspective, this section sort out the source of these groups of initials, at the same time, comparing with the corresponding of the Mandarin Initials.Chapter 3 is about final system and consisted of four sections. It describes the overall system of finals and the dialect features, compares the Binhai dialect with the Ancient system by a large number of cases of investigation, and study on the several finals in groups, which is the o(?) finals, iI(?) finals and (?) finals. From a historical perspective, it analyzes the source of these groups, at the same time comparing with the correspondings of the Mandarin finals system.Chapter 4 is about tone system and consisted of three sections. At the first, it describes the overall tone system and the dialect features, and then compares the Binhai dialect with the Ancient system by a large number of cases of investigation. Finally, this article studies on the sandhi words of the dialect, and sum up the rule of the sandhi words of Binhai dialect.
