The major purpose of this thesis is to examine the language attitude and capability of the Thai college students.The researches are about whether there are any differences among the students' attitudes,what the differences are.what affects their attitudes and whether there are any relevance between language attitude and capability,what the relevance are.The present research is conducted in the language attitude theory,language competence theory and interlanguage theory.The data quantified and analyzed in the research have been collected by questionnaires,and then processed by SPSS.These two methods supply and validate each other.make the results more effectively.The results indicate that:the following factors will affect Thai students' language attitude,age,whether is a foreign citizen of Chinese origin,Whether have the Chinese family environment,the time they have learned Chinese before coming to China and the time they have learned Chinese after coming to China.Some other factors have no influence on their language attitude, such as gender,major,educational background,geographical background,whether have the other experience to China in the past,whether take part in HSK.The Thai students' language attitude are positively relevant with their capability.The students of 20-23years old show highest degree of relevance in their language attitude and capability.Those not foreign citizen of Chinese origin show more degree.The students do not have the Chinese family environment show higher degree of relevance than those have.In the aspect of the time they have learned Chinese before coming to China,the student who learn Chinese in the long term show highest degree of relevance in their language attitude and capability,those in the middle term second.In the aspect of the time they have learned Chinese after coming to China,the student learning Chinese long-term have less degree relevance than the short-term student.Utilizing the results,we can undertake targeted Chinese teaching to Thai students studying in China,take effective measures to improve their Chinese attitude and capability.This is a kind of meaningful method for the promotion of the language in international sense.
