Review Of Chen Qian Novel

Among the new immigrant women writers, Chen Qian is considered as the representative of white-collar-writers of the Silicon Valley in U. S., whose works focus on exploring the living condition and spiritual status of diaspora individuals, particularly the new immigrant women with the theme of sentimental love and marriage. Based on previous studies and other reliable materials available, with detailed textual analysis, this paper makes a systematic and comprehensive study of novels written by Chen Qian in Chinese language and published in the mainland of China. This paper approaches "nostalgia", one of the focuses of immigrant literature, with an aim to reveal the new cultural quality in the creative works of Chen Qian as member of the new generation of immigrant writers as compared with preceding immigrant writers and other contemporary women writers. At the same time, it is a comprehensive, multi-sided exhibition of human desire and attitudes, perplexity and pursuit, reality and mentality. Under the globalization field of vision, the nostalgia already desalinated; in multiplicative cultural space and time, the status approval's anxious also already retreats; her leading character seeks the ideal life. Besides, The retrospective narrative strategy, the beautiful romantic stories and expressive language constitute the unique and lasting appeal of the artistic world created by Chen Qian.
