Break Free From The Shackles Of The Spirit—On Chen Qian's Novels

Since entering the 21 st century,the literary creation of new immigrants has been extremely active.In particular,the female writers have shown extraordinary creative strength.As a rising star,Chen Qian gradually shows her unique style as her number of works increased.With many years of experience in Silicon Valley and a unique female perspective,she portrayed a series of complex characters of men and women,depicting the search and pursuit of these men and women in family,marriage and career,showing their spiritual distress and inner struggles.In order to further study the new characteristics presented in Chen Qian’s novels,based on the existing research results,we further read the text and dissect the changes and deepening of the theme of Chen Qian’s novel by combining the Comparative Literature criticism.This paper will be divided into three chapters:Chapter One: Multidimensional Representation of the Spiritual predicament.In Chen Qian’s novels,the female character has always occupied a dominant position,she reveals the mental dilemma faced by new immigrant women in real life with her keen sense of feeling.The first section is the construction of new immigrant women’s self-subjectivity.This section reviews the changing status of Chinese women and the predicament of new immigrant women after they go abroad,and shows their efforts and spiritual leap in their pursuit of self-worth.The second section is The breakthrough of national cultural trauma and spiritual restoration.Chen Qian uses the "Cultural Revolution" as a background to reveal the psychological trauma that the disaster brought to people and the difficulty and repetition of psychological repair.The third section is Thought of the revolution of science and technology,and the evolution of social ethics.As a high-tech employee,Chen Qian keenly perceives that the development of high technology influences people in life and the confusion of the spirit,showing a direction of literary reflection.Chapter Two: Tracing the source of mental dilemma.From the perspective of the new immigrants,this paper analyzes why Chen Qian was obsessed with the spiritual dilemma of writing Chinese new immigrant women.The first section is culturalidentity: dual identity.This section analyzes Chen Qian’s unique cultural identity and the process of difficult self-identification.The second section is the perspective of women: gender reconstruction.Chen Qian,as a new immigrant woman writer,completes the restatement of gender bias with a transcendental attitude.In her novels,she has created a series of male images of "strong women" and "obscure and frustrated" men.Meanwhile,she is longing for equality and freedom.It is in the confrontation of these two ideas that the characters in her novels often get into trouble.The third quarter is intersection of culture: integration and transcendence.This part analyses the influence of Chinese and Western cultures on the writing of Chen Qian from the perspective of cultural convergence.Chapter three: Writing Spiritual Dilemma with Poetic Thinking.The first section of this chapter mainly analyses Chen Qian’s novel idea of "seeking why" and the way of writing that complements this idea.The second section analyzes the multi-dimensional narrative construction in Chen Qian’s novels,mainly the perspective of the retrospective narrative and the use of various narrative techniques.The third section analyses the narrative style of Chen Qian’s novels.Chen Qian’s profound family history and strong classical qualities influence her creation.At the same time,influenced by Western novels,Chen Qian presents a film-based narrative style.The conclusion part summarizes the full text and points out the unique value and significance of Chen Qian’s novel writing in the new immigrant literature.
