Self-concept is the system of self-body, self-mental, social cognition and attitude. Mental health is the persistent, stable and positive orientation state when individual meets inner or outer stimulus. The famous psychologist Rogers Carl Ransom thinks that the difference between the realistic self-concept and ideal self-concept is an important index sign of the mental health state. The self-concept rises to the mental health positive or negative function, be decided by the kind of the self-concept, namely active and enterprising or passive and depressed. The positive self-concept will promote the individual mental health. The self-concept of higher technical undergraduate that be placed in the adolescence is still in the steadily development. Therefore, to study the self-concept that higher technical undergraduate, inquiry into the self-concept characteristics to healthy relation in mental state and live to the technical college the mental health education is very necessary.This study in overview contains foundation that studying the result, aims at the higher technical undergraduate the self-concept to develop with the mental health level research comparing lack, application the mental measures method, to pass the whole flock of sampling choice from Shanghai and Henan province three colleges three years system 272 students, proceeded the test. They accepted the basic information, TSCS and CCSMH of test. We come to the conclusions, as follow:(1) In technical college, boys and girls have the same balance in general mental health; girls have more family self-concept while boys are more candid in self-criticism.(2) Students serving as student leaders have lower self-concept overall, but have no significant difference overall level of mental health.(3) Differences in mental health is not very significant between only child and not only child, but self-concept of not only child has the overall higher level than only child's.(4) Self-concept of the students has the "U"-type structure, showing that the first year is a higher level, declining in the second grade, while increasing in third grade.(5) Self-concept of Science and engineering students is relatively higher than other specialties; the humanities specialties generally have a lower level of mental health.(6) Students from rural areas have a lower level of mental health than urban areas.(7) self-concept of students who's parents are farmers has higher level, but their mental health is lower than the students who's father is official or businessman and mother is worker or businessmen.(8) Students'different family atmosphere has some influence on the self-concept of the students, while the mental health of the students has more significant impact. Family harmony promotes the mental health of students.(9) Students of more positive self-concept have higher mental health level than the students of negative self-concept; but the students' self-concept and mental health have weak correlation.(10) Self-criticize and moral-ethical self are the most important factors affecting mental health.
