As the basic form of people living, the village mainly refers to the big settlement and the groups which are formed by many settlements, commonly beening used for the areas of concentration of population distribution in modern sense,including natural villages (or hamlet) and their adjacency. The village is one of the kinds of settlements what are collectively called.The early form of the village has already appeared in the pre-Qin days, which three primary source types are lu, qiu and ju. Spring sacrifice at the foot of the southern mountain of book of odes of the book of the poetry said:"Grouds grow amid the field, and melons have gross yield. " Not only the Book of Songs but also Yuefu poetry belongs to the folk song of creative groups from the pre-Qin days to the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties when intellectuals had not descriped the village consciously, although the situation of the farmers'living could be indirectly reflected through some sacrifying poems and farming poems. The village in chinese classical poetry was descriped diectly at the beginning of the Weijin and the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Taoyuanming in the Eastern Jin Dynasty first wrote down many poems to descripe the village and show people the beauty of the village in the literary history. The village went on developping in the Tang dynasty of the chinese history when the village was recorded more comprehensive than the former period. The era of flourishing and the material conditions of abaundance made people's living better and the descriping of village was more comprehensive.The word of village has eappeared many times in the Tang Dynasty poetry.The poets had already created countless masterpieces facing the beautiful and peaciful village. In the poets'eyes, the village is the beautiful scenery, the pure natural, what's more, the home to the hearts of poets.
