Public opinion is not static, and people's views about an issue can develop and change over time from disconnected, poorly informed reactions to more thoughtful and considered conclusions, from changeable public opinion to settled public judgment. In light of public opinion's this attribute, the manipulation thereof towards a consensual state is quite necessary for politicians who make their case in public. By having recourse to media, the politicians tactically build up a regime of truth that could indirectly and implicitly encroach on public awareness. On the heels of tragic incident of 9/11 came the Operation Iraqi freedom. The bellicose exercise orchestrated by George W. Bush has caused a deep divide between the world and America. Where the rest of the world saw the sinful saber thrust, the American domestic establishment saw the divine mandate. The line of difference of public opinions of Iraq War was drawn by President Bush's conscious effort to manipulate the public opinion through building up a regimen of truth at the most proper time for public opinion formation. This thesis begins with the cogent relation between consensus and public opinion manipulation, develops with the core elements required of by public opinion controlling and culminates in the substantiated analysis of the elements contextually against Iraq War.
