Francis Lister Hawks Pott was a missionary of Episcopal Church in the United States of America, an educator and President of Shanghai Saint John University. He was a educator with remarkable accomplishments which have fundamental influence on the modern eduction history of China, particularly that of Shanghai. His work Lessons in The Shanghai Dialect was published in 1907, which was written specially for foreigners who were missionizing or doing business in the region of Jiang Su province and Shanghai city.
