Objective:To explore self harmonious and coping styles of learning excellence and underachievement among college students with contrastive study, and the different self-harmony influential factors between the learning excellence and underachievement college students.Methods:92 learning excellence students and 62 underachievement students were selected by using the self harmonious scale from 583 college students. And then, coping styles, self harmonious and the study objective were compared by the independent sample t-test, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis within the two group.Results:(1) t test results showed that there were distinguished differences of the learning excellence and underachievement college students on the aspect of the self harmonious and coping styles. (2) The result of Pearson correlation analysis showed that there were notable differences between the learning excellence and underachievement college students on the aspect of the self harmonious and coping styles.(3) The result of regression analysis showed that to the excellence achiever, the self-reproach dimension had distinguished positive effect on the disharmony dimension of the self and experience (P<0.001), and solving problem had distinguished positive effect on the self-flexibility (P<0.001). The solving problem dimension had distinguished negative effect on the self-harmony (P<0.05). Self-reproach dimension had distinguished positive effect on the self-harmony (P<0.05). To the underachiever, the fantasy dimension had distinguished positive effect on disharmony dimension of self and experience (P<0.05).The other five dimensions of coping styles had little effect on the disharmony dimension of the self and experience.Conclusion:(1) in these two groups, the self-harmony level of learning excellence achiever is higher than that of underachiever. The learning excellence achiever has a tendency towards choosing a more positive and mature coping styles. (2) As to the learning excellence college students, the self-reproach coping style can positively predict the disharmony of the self and experience, and solving problem coping style can positively predict the self-flexibility, and solving problem coping style can negatively predict self-harmony, and also the self-reproach coping style can positively predict the self-harmony. As to the college underachiever, fantasy can positively predict the disharmony of the self and experience.
