Tianmen Hejiang Woodcarving Aesthetics Research

Tianmen Hejiang woodcarving , which was born in Tianmen city, refers to a kind of Hejiang village of traditional folk craft, and it is the extant important intangible cultural heritage. This paper , on the one hand, have studied the peculiar woodcarving craft of Hejiang village of Tianmen city. It is shown in three aspects: the woodcarving figures have big head and small body and they follow the primary and secondary alignment, the combination of characters is complicated and lines pursue the general and abstract form and the technical process is rigorous and orderly; the figures is painted according to the characters'level; visually, the figures pursue similarity in spirit and dynamic effect. On the other hand, the author, in the former basis , have also discussed the aesthetics of Tianmen Hejiang woodcarving: generative, connectivity, compatibility and duality. In addition, the author,with Tianmen Hejiang woodcarving as point of penetration, have carried out deeply the analysis and thinking of traditional folk woodcarving craft. It is fully obvious to improve the integrity of the traditional technology research in China.
