The stone sculpture of Han dynasty is a adornment sculpture which is attached to the burial rooms and ground ancestral hall, tomb, etc, and is the unique artistic form that formed in the Han Chinese mortuary practices of Han dynasty. As one of the four places of production in the northern of Shaanxi, the stone unearthed are large in numbers, rich in content, and has the distinct regional characteristics.In the northern of Shaanxi, the stone sculpture about social life can be divided into hunting, war, farming, animal husbandry, entertainments and mythology, etc. These subjects prominent reflection of the local historical environment and agriculture and animal husbandry engaged in economic characteristics, these economic characteristics also decided at that time this region, and people's eating habits affect their life custom.From archaeological material, the geographic distribution of the stone, they mainly concentrated in the Han dynasty within the scope of Xihe county; After the Han dynasty emperor Wu tombs system change greatly, the tomb stone should be the catacombs or combination, and the function of local higher level as the burial. In this way, it was relatively stable in short period and was adopted by officials and rich people. About the source of the stone, from archaeological materials, with neighboring Shannxi Han stone and the Jingbian and Dingbian region, so grave in the northern region of Shaanxi associated with the Han stone should the original.
