With the development of economics, interactions between countries and increasingly academic exchanges in the world, the society has put forward a new challenge to English teaching at high levels and communicative competence of English is paid more and more attention.For a long time, English teaching in China has serious problems of duplication. The traditional teacher-centered method still dominates the PH.D students'English teaching in some way, which ignores the training of communicative competence. Many PH.D students have already master a large number of vocabulary and grammar, but their communicative ability is relatively at a low level. As high level special talents, PH.D students'should focus on the improvement of their English communicative ability. As for the problems existing at doctoral stage, it is very necessary to explore a new teaching model for PH.D students. Recently, classroom interaction has attached great attention as an effective way to enhance students'communicative ability. To solve the problems, the author proposes the interactive model in the PH.D students'English class based on interactive language teaching and CBI.The interactive model puts emphasis on classroom interaction and designs a series of communicative activities. It aims at creating a democratic and harmonious atmosphere, reducing students'anxiety and stimulating students'interests. Through interaction, students'communicative ability will be improved in the classroom. The author conducts a study to the PH.D students on Qingdao campus of China University of Petroleum in 2010 lasting a whole semester. Questionnaire, interview and classroom observation are employed in the study to investigate the effectiveness of the interactive model. The results indicate that students'positivity is promoted under the guidance of the interactive model. The interactive model for PH.D students has a positive influence on students'communicative competence.
