The Research On The Semantic Field Of "Sense Perception" Type Verbs In Mid-aged Chinese

The article researches on"Sense perceptiom"type verbs in Mid-aged Chinese by using the theory of semantic field. It specifically analyzes the synchronic distribution and alternate changes among sub-semantic fields for five sense perception verbs: senses of vision,hearing,tasting, smelling and touching with research methods such as quantitative & qualitative analysis,combination of synchronicity & diachrony,traditional exegetics. The article firstly describes the polymerization and combination of each sub-semantic field synchronously. Meanwhile, through the comparison with sense perception verbs in Antiquity Chinese , Neoteric Chinese and Modern Chinese, clarify the alternate changes of members in each sub-semantic field. Combing synchronic and diachronic research aims to probe into the historical evolvement of"Sense perceptiom"type verbs in Mid-aged Chinese, to clear the whole development route of"Sense perceptiom"type verbs and to provide"Sense perceptiom"type verbs in Mid-aged Chinese with a clear decripition and a whole position: Middle Ages is an important transitional period of"Sense perceptiom"verbs. It lays the foundation for the basic condition of sense perception verbs in Neoteric Chinese and Modern Chinese. Comparing with Antiquity Chinese, the basic members of the"Sense perceptiom"type verbs semantic field in Mid-aged Chinese have changed just a little. But the core word of visual sensory verbs sub-semantic field and touch sensory verbs sub-semantic field have changed gradually: shì→kàn, chù→mō.And the semantic field apparently revealed the tendency toward poly-syllable unit. It has generated many two-syllable compound words. Many sense perception verbs which are used today have generated .Besides, the glosseme of each member in the semantic field appears in considerable overlap and intercross .In addition, the"Sense perceptiom"type verbs semantic field is connected with the cognitive verbs semantic field. The causes for the development and evolution are multi-faceted. They include not only external factors but also internal factors. The external factors include the development of social life, the pushing force of cognition ,the infiltration of the Buddhism culture and thoughts. The internal factors include the interaction between semantic fields, semantic burden and the influence of dialects.
