This paper takes burning semantic field as study object. It applies semantic field theory and combines both synchronic and diachronic methods, in order to probe into the evolving process of burning semantic field from pre-qin age to Ming and Qing dynasties.The paper consists of four parts. The introduction part gives a general introduction to the background of relative study, the meaning and value of this paper, criteria of approaching methods, reference materials and so on. Part two describs and analyses the frequency eachm menber of semantic field appears in the typical documents of each dynasty and the changes of semantic field's construction, so as to make a dynchronic comparison and analysis towards semantic field. Part three studies the development and change of each menber of semantic field through studying concrete menbers. That includes(1) the application and extinction of old words; (2) the heritage and development of old words; (3) the emergence and application of new words; (4) the analysis of special words types. Part four concludes the features of burning semantic field in the process of historical evolvement based on diachronic inspect from an integral prospective.Through this paper's study, the developing process and features of menbers of burning semantic field in history could be seen clearly. Meanwhile, this paper discusses a peculiar kind of words in burning semantic field which has not been discovered in other studies of semantic field.
