A Study On Gao You's Phonetic Notation

GaoYou was one of the outstanding hermeneutists in the late of DongHan Dynasty.He had once studied follow with LuZhi,the famous Confucian scholar.GaoYou was rich in annotating many ancient books.The existing"three books annotation"——"Annotation of ZhanGuoce","Annotation of HuaiNanZi","Annotation of LuShiChunQiu"is an important basis for future generations to understand and study high achievement of GaoYou in the traditional elementary study's history.Through the investigation and analysis to the materials of GaoYou's phonetic notations that had been retained in"three books annotation",we want to find the methods and terms in GaoYou's phonetic notations,also give a definition to the phonetic notation terms.To reveale laws of ancient-medieval phonetic change, to seek the reasons of GaoYou's phonetic notations,to reflect the relationship between phonetic and meaning,to explore the the relationship between ancient Chinese different reading with phonetic changes are all we aim.This thesis is divided into nine parts.First,to be the introduction.Second,to be the situation of GaoYou's phonetic notations.Third,to be the function of GaoYou's phonetic notation terms.Fourth,to reflect some voice phenomenon of GaoYou's phonetic notations.Fifth,to study dialect sound of GaoYou's phonetic notations.Sixth,to discuss the reasons of GaoYou's phonetic notations.Seventh,to reveal the relationship between phonetic and meaning in GaoYou's phonetic notations.Eighth,to discuss the problem of different reading with phonetic changes.Ninth,to be a summary.The first part of the Introduction, introduces the"three books annotation"s version, the study situation of GaoYou's phonetic notations and research value,also with the existing problem in GaoYou's phonetic notations study,In this part,we will indicate the problem to be solved, using materials and methods. The second part we will give an explanation to the method and terminology of GaoYou's phonetic notations,also with a classification analysis to the terminology. The third part we will focus on the analysis of GaoYou's phonetic notations'function.Through preliminary study we found that Direct phonetic notation and Comparison phonetic notation's term and their functions are intercross.As to the Analogy term,the function may be related with the category of intonation change. The fourth part we will through the material of GaoYou's phonetic notations to reveal the law of phonetic change from ancient to medieval.Corresponds to the same time, we will sum up the mixed consonant using, rhyme category right turn, rhyme category side tone. Fifth part we will study the dialect phonetic,showing that the dialect phonetic has kept with the original dialect phonetic. Part Six to be the reasons for GaoYou's phonetic notations.In our view,in addition to phonetic notations for GaoYou's phonetic notations,at least nearly half of another in order to explane the meaning. This is different with the traditional Explanations of words in ancient books and purely phonetic notations. GaoYou's phonetic notations just reflect the combination of both. Part Seven we will reflect the relationship between phonetic and meaning.How does vocabulary meaning and grammatical meaning through the phonetic change to achieve? Is there a law between Grammatical meaning change and phonetic changes? This chapter will give an answer. Part Eight, we will analyze words with different reading in GaoYou's phonetic notations and give a summary to the morphological phenomena the phonetic notations reflected.Then we can say there is a morphological form change of the Eastern Han Dynasty era certainly. Part Nine will be a summary.
