Research On The Chinese Traditional Culture And The Construction Of Cultural Soft Power

The report to the Seventeenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China has emphasized that:"in the present era, culture has become a more and more important source of national cohesion and creativity and a factor of growing significance in the competition in overall national strength, and the Chinese people have an increasingly ardent desire for a richer cultural life. We must keep to the orientation of advanced socialist culture, bring about a new upsurge in socialist cultural development, stimulate the cultural creativity of the whole nation, and enhance culture as part of the soft power of our country".This shows that improving cultural soft power has risen to the national strategy.It is the bounden duty of Chinese traditional culture to study and construct cultural soft power. The relationship between Chinese traditional culture and the construction of cultural soft power is an important subject in China's construction of socialist advanced culture. Among the great ancient civilizations, Chinese culture is the only one that has been completely passed down. The history needs to continue, while the culture needs to be passed down. If a culture couldn't be accepted by the contemporary people, or become the spiritual wealth of contemporary people, or arm the thoughts of contemporary people, it would go nowhere but to a lost civilization. The content system of Chinese traditional culture regards"people"as the core, which is in accord with the"people-oriented"philosophy that we presently advocate. Based on the regularity on people, Chinese traditional culture regards people rather than the nature or society as the subject. In particular, it lays stresses on the coordination of the peace of mind, the harmony between people, and the smoothness between people and the nature. In another sense, it is more like a methodology to judge and coordinate the relationship between people and the society and between people and the nature.Nowadays, the attitude towards Chinese traditional culture should be upright. If Chinese traditional culture shall become the essential part of cultural soft power, it must be adapted to the demands of people in the new century and be modernized so as to be widely spread in the world. At the same time, in the process of modernization, Chinese traditional culture should absorb the excellent achievements of other nations and transform its modes of transmission and promotion. In the twenty-first century, China is situated in a drastic social transition period when the economic system is deeply reformed, the social structure is deeply changed, the interest structure is deeply adjusted and ideological thoughts are deeply altered. Under such a background, it has become especially urgent to construct a socialist core value system so as to form a spiritual strength and bond for the whole nation to make great progress.On basis of relevant research findings and a systematic knowledge of the history of cultural research, the paper makes a deep study around the value of Chinese traditional culture in construction of cultural soft power by ways of text research and history analysis.
