The long history of Chinese people immigrating to Thailand for many centuries isnow impacting Thai Society. The processes of affecting methods are complex anddelicate; those processes have been working behind the two countries policies and havehistorically adapted to changing situations. Previously, Thailand as a host countryrealized that the assimilation of Chinese culture might have effects Thailand like thosein Vietnam, Korean, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, etc. and they decided to lessen thoseeffects by making Thai Identity Culture. The Thai government had issue several policiesto control minority tribes’ roles and power. While tribes also got the right enjoy thefreedom within the scope of the enactments, Chinese immigrants still implementedChinese tradition and inherit life style customs from ancestor to descendent. At the present of Thai society, the fusion of Thai custom and Chinese culture hasbeen accepted and is spreading among the Chinese community. It is common to seeChinese style on the street in public or in an honorable ceremony. Also, as blood mixingwas occurring over many centuries, it is increasingly difficult to identify pure race orthe origin of citizens in Thailand. Not only due to the trouble of proving allegiance andthe similarity of body structure of Thai and Chinese people, but also the impact from theformer prime minister’s rule that every child and teenager have basic education and beable to use Thai language fluently.China now draws the interest from many countries around the world includingThailand. As a fast developing country and being successful in many fields, Chinabecomes one of the most powerful countries in the world. New trends are developingsince China is using a soft power strategy in Thailand and with the basic of Chineseculture acknowledgement in Thai society also enlarging soft power efficiency.
