In the history of Mordern Chinese Literature, Chen Xianghe is no doubt a modern novelist who is unique personality and increasingly concerned. His novel development from Romanticism to Realism, from childishness to maturity, showing a significant stage. He took the intellectual life as theme and shew their spirit. His novel's result focus on the sentimental novel and historical novel. This article mainly discusses his novels from the performance-value of thinking and form. Chen Xianghe early novels show a unique romantic-style, through the hard life of education, he promptly adjust the art-pursuit. He got rid of the sentimental mood and turned to realism. He used realistic-tone to enhance the thought of the social life, which made his novels behave more depth and intensity. In the novel-creation, except for Lin Ruji and Yang Zhensheng's influence, he was also influenced by Yu Dafu's sentimental novel and Lu Xun's writing skills, which made his novel show a different style. He learned techniques of Western modernism, but also attach importance to the Chinese literary tradition of lyricism, which makes his novels show strange colors and deep lyricism.
