With the development of mass dissemination technology, mass media and its contents have penetrated into every corners of society. To some extent, contemporary culture is the media culture. Media has made the virtual environment to be reflected truly, and the self-identification is not out of the social situation, but is almost entirely defined by the social situation. The identification of migrant workers in the city is actually the re-socialization process of migrant workers. This paper tries to combine three theoretical approaches:the Primordialism, constructionism and Circumstantialism. It is based on 200 survey data on migrant workers in Wuhan rural areas to have a systematic research on the problem of rural drama and the construction of their identity. Standing in the perspective of migrant workers themselves, the paper discusses the influence of rural drama on the identification of migrant workers, in order to observe the influences of the media consumption on small groups. At present, it has been widely acknowledged that migrant workers are the main target audiences of the rural drama, which functions as a means of identity construction. Then it will naturally become a good platform for the identification and negotiation of self-identification of migrant workers, or rather a good discursive field which can accelerate the awakening and construction of migrant workers' self-identity. However, from the data of this survey analysis, the performance of this influence is not very well.
