Study On Zhujunsheng's Mutually Explanatory From Cognitive View

The SHUO WEN TONG XUN DING SHENG written by Zhu Junsheng is a book which chiefly study on the extension of the word and clear up the ancient Chinese lexical system systematically.In this book, the ZhuanZhu part shows the path of the word extension and the process of the lexical meaning's changing in the ancient Chinese. Studying on it can contribute to sort out the evidence and type of word extending in the ancient Chinese and provide reference value for the research of Vocabulary Development.On the basis of previous research, we inspect the material of ZhuanZhu in SHUO WEN TONG XUN DING SHENG and the phenomenon of word extending in the ancient Chinese from the angle of cognitive linguistics, we excavate the pattern of extension of word meaning which hidden in the ZhuanZhu material, and show the cognitive process hidden in the organizing work,in the same time, we use living examples to explain the relationship between the metaphor metonymy and word extending, we analyze the function of metaphor metonymy ,we infer that the thinking pattern of metaphor metonymy is the motive power of semanteme changing and developing, and we excavate the driving force and condition of word extending. We did this research in order to illumination classics from Modern Linguistics view and contribute to study on the history of the Chinese language, critical interpretation of ancient texts and semantics.There are four chapters. The first chapter is foreword, firstly, we chiefly introducing the writer ZhuJunsheng and his book SHUO WEN TONG XUN DING SHENG, and then summarize the previous research situation of SHUO WEN TONG XUN DING SHENG and the signification of studying on this subject, and the theory and method used in the thesis. The second chapter is the study of the relationship between Mutually Explanatory and metonymy, firstly, we explain the theory of metonymy, and then excavate the metonymy mode in the research of ZhuanZhu, and then illustrate the pattern of word expending in SHUO WEN TONG XUN DING SHENG caused by metonymy, we found the patterns of metonymy shown in ZhuanZhu is constituted of two parts, one is caused by the metonymy between whole and part, the other one is caused by metonymy between parts and parts in the whole. The third part explain the theory of metaphor firstly, and then analyze the relationship between metaphor and word expending, and next excavate the metaphor mode in ZhuJunsheng's research of ZhuanZhu, and then explain the pattern of word expending in SHUO WEN TONG XUN DING SHENG caused by metaphor. The last part is the conclusion which consists of three items: one is summarize the job we have done in the thesis, and then go to the conclusion, namely, sum up the pattern of word expending and cognitive styles we found from ZhuanZhu material, and the last part point out the deficiency of the thesis and give the plan for further research.
