Study On The Songs And Dances Of The Ritual Of Double Seven Festival In Xihe, Lixian County

The culture of double seven festival spread all over the country and have their own characteristics, different places have different forms of expressions. Xihe and Lixian county still preserved this old tradition--- double seven festival, its was well preserved in form and large in scale, formed an unique local customs and ritual activities. Its characteristic including the complete form, deep mass base, a long time span, only-worshiped weaver, especially the ritual process contain a large number of songs and dances. In this paper, the author applied the method of musical anthropology, based on the stating of the present phenomenon of the double seven festival in Xihe and Lixian county of Gansu Province, described the basic forms and features of music and dance of double seven festival. Analyzed function and role of music in double seven festival, and then explored the relationships among music, dance, rituals of double seven festival and object of belief.Role-playing of woman in rituals of double seven festival, nature worship and expression of entertainment, it is the embodiment of identity of female. As a culture with local characteristics, double seven festival was inherited through the oral tradition of unmarried women, preserved oral culture and history in the form of music, the culture showed the connotation of local culture and its symbolic significance.
