Cultural globalization strengthens the mutual exchanges between language cultures, the result of which is that different language cultures infiltrate into each other and become increasingly interdependent. As an indispensable means of communication, translation plays a vital role in this process and will inevitably bear the imprint of both the source and the target language cultures. As an indispensable means of communication, translating plays a vital role in this process and its end products- translations- will inevitably bear the imprint of both the source and the target language cultures. Historically, scholars held heated discussions over the dichotomy of domestication and foreignization. However, the findings of the present study suggest that all translations are characterized by hybridity, resulting from a compromise between domestication and foreignization. In fact, some translations are domestication-oriented hybrid texts while others are foreignaization-oriented hybridity texts. The author bases the present study on the Post-colonial translation theory. The postcolonial translation theory focuses on the unequal power relationship in different nationalities, different languages and cultures. Depending on its purpose, strategies and methods, translation not only can be the conspiracy of the colonial power, but can also be the power to eliminate the cultural hegemony and racial centralism . Hybridity in translation is an inevitable outcome of the communication of language and culture. It has the positive function in promoting an equal communication between cultures. The main research method of this thesis is qualitative description and analysis. In order to prove that all translations are hybrid texts, the author chooses twelve articles of the C-E soft news translation materials in China Today as research data. Through the examination of the C-E soft news translation, the results are analyzed in two interactions between linguistic hybridity and cultural hybridity. This thesis chiefly attempt to probe into the translation strategy of hybridity which leading to the conclusion that hybridization in C-E soft news translation organically combines domestication and foreignization. This is helpful to the TT reader s comprehension and acceptance of the content of the original text, and is helpful to the introduction of weak cultures into strong cultures and inner-cultural communication. Through the analysis, the author concludes that the C-E soft news translation is a foreignaization-oriented hybridity text. This kind of dual characteristics have a positive significance to negate the western cultural hegemony and it has a great enlightening significance in the cultural exchanges between China and the western world, especially in the spread of the Chinese culture.
