The Zhao'ming Prince Xiao Tong (501-531) directed and comjsiled Literary Anthology by the aritcle choosing stardard that what one wants to express COflCCS from his mind and the gist comes from beautiful words. Then there was Xaio Gai, a descen- dant of Xiao Tong wrote The Pronouciation of Literary Anthology. During Sui and Tang Dynasities, Chao Xian, from hang Du taught his students Literary Anthology, thus appears the term "Literary Anthologisrn."At the time of Gao Zong of Tang Dy- nasty, Li Shan wrote Annotation of Literary Anthology which became an outstanding represnctative of annotating works. It made a top work on anthologism, and was praised by those who studied Literary Anthology. In Qian Long's and Jia Qing's times, many intellects sorted out Literary Anthology. Great achievements were made by anthologists, But later, people did little on it. This thesis trys to make a systemic, objective and fair evaluation on Differentiation and Analysis on Different Editions of Literary Anthology, by Hu Kejia in Qing Dynasty. Firstly, this thesis puts forward doubt about the author of the work and makes a comprehensive differentiation and analysis from the aspect of his life, his times and the social enviroment, and comes to the conclusion that the work was written not by Hu Kejia, but by Gu Guangqi and Peng Zhaosun. Secondly based on the early research, the thesis induces and classifies the existing classilial)le eXaflhl)1CS. Ii forsakes the method of classification of the classifiable exam- J)ICS of Li Shan , the incorrect examples in You Mao edition and Peng S exatnI)lQs of differentiation and analysis, for by this method, classificable examples could be easily made unitary and general. e thesis classifys the classfiable exaniples in the work into seven categories: example of different editions, examples of characters, exaflhI)les of phonetics and explanation, examples of quotations, examples of correction, examples of the remaining differences, examples of correcting exI)ressioil. Each of the seven is classified furclur. Thirdly the contents and the characteristics of the work are sorted out and summed. The contents includes: correction of the differences and sameness of charac- ters, correction of the phonetics of characters, correction of mistakes of sentences, cor- rection of addition reduction and mistakes of characters. Analyses are made by turn. There are four characteristics of its correction: correcting in an indirect way, various correcting methods bcing used, accourate judgcments, and wide l)ut not I)arrot quota- tions. Fourthy, in the course of correcting, based on I)r~foIiI1d knowledge anti CX(It]isile skills, Cu Cuatigqi and Peng Zhaosun absorbed the early achievements of forerunners and made breakthrough, delicately correcting literary Anthology word by word. Their work became the model correction that many people adored. But sometimes, the au- thors didn think profoundly, which, together with the objective causes of the times, made it porssible to make mistakes. The achieveoments and mistakes of the work are not widely disoussed nowadays. The viewpoints of the thesis are following. There are three achievement: ( I) hc work is the first that makes systematic correction of literary Anthology in Qing Dynasty. (2) The work makes a theoretical distribution to the art of correction.
