Children's social development refers to the process in which children gain the social adaptability ï¿¡ through learning the necessary coping skills, norms for behaviors and value system. This questionfor study has already been studied in the field of western psychology since I 930s,and it is in late 1970s that we Chinese began to concern it. Great progress has been made during the last twenty years that researchers have realized the complexity of children's socialization process. As a result, researchers tend to view children themselves as the active participator in their own process of socialization.Temperament as a personal characteristic plays a significant role in children's social development, which has been highly attached importance by western psychologists and has become a focal point as well. However, the study of temperament's affect is still inadequate so far. This article attempts to explore the affect of four to five years old children's temperament and their parents' breeding styles on the children's social development. The aim is to provide social development study with some useful data.This article adopted questionaire survey as the main way of study, and two kindergartens in Jinan City act as the objects of survey.The study shows:1.The children's temperament is an important factor affecting their social development.2.The children's temperament is also a significant factor affecting their parents' breeding styles.3.The parents' encouragement of independence and success promotes children's social development.4.Temperament not only affects children's social development directly but also affects it indirectly through affecting parents' breeding styles.
