The Development Of The Value Of Children Questionnaire And Application In Midwest China Suburban Peasants

At present,the sex ratio imbalance,aging population and children left behind brought by the increasing of floating population in our country's population structure,are influenced by the Value of Children(VOC).The procreation conception includes the understanding and evaluation of the fertility problem,and the VOC is a kind of value based on the fertility behavior.According to the related theory,the VOC refers to the evaluation to the value of having children,including serve the needs of parents and the benefit and cost brought by the children.The willingness of breeding and fertility motivation will be affected by the VOC,and select the fertility strategy consciously under the influence of VOC.This research recalled the existing theory,definition of the VOC and the main dimensions.With an opened questionnaire,we proposed the the theoretical construction and designed the postive and negative value of VOC.Through the factor analysis and validity test of the prediction questionnaire,we redesigned the questionnaire and obtain the formatted edition.We applied the formatted questionnaire to investigate the VOC of the peasant and ultilized the similar testing methods to analysis the data.The conclusions of this research are as followed,(1)The questionnaire of the VOC contains both the positive and negative parts.The positive ones include three dimesions which are the emotional value,the family continuing on and economic value,while the negative ones includes the influencing the live quality,economic burden and emotional stress.(2)This research adopts the homogeneity reliability and the reliability of the half reliability testing questionnaire.The reliability coefficients satisify the standard of psychometrics,which indicates that the positive and negative questionnaire possesses a good reliability.This research applies the structured and content validity to evaluate the validity of the questionnaire.Correlation analysis result shows a high correlation among the factors and the questionnaire.The confirmatory factor analysis results show that the fitting indicators of the model are in line with the requiremetns of psychometrics,which indicates the questionnaire possesses a good structure validity.The analysis of content validity shows that the questionnaire meets the country's concept of children-bearing.(3)A part of the dimensions of the questionnaire exist significant differences in gender,age,single and more than one children's parents.As to gender,the average score between male and female in influencing life quality,economic burden,emotion stress and negative value exists siginificant difference.To age,the 60s70 s and 80s90 s has different view in family continuing on,emotion value and influencing life quality.To the single and more than one children's parents,the emotion value and influencing life quality are different.(4)The willingness of rebirth has siginificant correlation with the negative VOC of influencing life quality and ecomic burden,while the correlation to the VOC of emotion value and boy-preferred or girl-preferred is negative.(5)For the way of parents teaching,the more the parents pay attention to emotion value,the less possibility they adopt the not-interfere education method,on the contrary,they tend to the democracy method.When the parents attach importance to the family continuing on and economic value,they are more likely to spoil and indulge their children.
