The problem of language sense and the teaching of language sense is one of the important theoretical and practical issues in the Chinese education circle in the late 20 years. Many heat discussions are triggered off around this issue. Therefore, a thorough retrospect and a further probe梚nto will be helpful to promote the present Chinese educational revolution. It is especially helpful to the arising practice of teaching of the language sense.The paper consists of five chapters.Chapter One: Background of sense of language and teaching the sense of language. On the basis of comprehensive reference, the paper gives a thorough analysis on the sense of language and the results of the research in teaching the sense of language. The problems existing in the present researches are pointed out in the paper. These problems include the present obscure understanding of the nature of language sense, insufficient evidence of the explanation on the mechanism of the forming of language sense and disputes in the Chinese teaching, etc. Accordingly, chapter one includes a thorough research on and a deep probe into the nature of language sense, mechanism of the forming of language sense and teaching the sense of language.Chapter Two: Nature of language sense. It is an individual?s parole experience, which is a product of an individual抯 everyday parole activities. The sense of language is an individual抯 psychological characteristic, in other words, an individual抯 ability. It automatically or consciously adjusts and controls the process of parole activities and the manner of the parole activities. Intellectual skill is the core of the sense of language.Chapter Three: Mechanism of the forming of language sense. According to the classification of the representing manner of knowledge and the function of knowledge in the modern cognitive psychology, the sense of language is, as an intellectual skill, formed in three ordinal stages. The first stage is the stage in which presentation knowledge is learnt and mastered. In the second stage, presentation knowledge is transformed to procedural knowledge. In the last stage, this procedural knowledge is automat ized. The mechanism of the forming of language sense is the product of an individual抯 active construction.Chapter Four: The type of language sense and its characteristics. There are many types of language sense. It can be classified into expressive language sense and comprehending language sense, according to the relationship between parole doer and the content.It can also be classified into content language sense and form language sense, according to parole doer for cognition of parole material. According to the expressing manner of the parole, it can be divided into the sense of degree, the sense of harmony and the sense of emotion. As an intellectual skill, the sense of language has the following2characteristics: being ready, complete, weblike, obscure, clear, emotional; The sense of language can be divided into three types in different levels. They are the beginning level language sense, the mid條evel language sense and the advanced level language sense. It can also be divided into the following three types: learners?ability of automatized Chinese information processing, learners?aesthetic and perceiving ability and learners?ability of personality shaping.Chapter Five: Teaching the sense of language. First of all, the law of the development of learners?mentality and the law of learners?parole construction should be observed. This Chinese teaching model of teaching the sense of language should he realized through creating the context, in which all梤ound practice of language teaching at all levels should he carried out. Language sense cultivating is the core of the teaching the sense of language. Language sense analysis and practice of language sense are the important methods to cultivate language sense.
