Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak(1942 ) is an Indian American woman scholar.She was born in Calcutta of India, and immigrated to America in 1963. Spivak isflow ha professor in English and Culture Research Department of PittsburghUniversity of U.S.A. .As an important postcolonial theorist after AdwardSaid, she is being paid increasing attention to in academic field.This thesis deals with the arrangement and aiialysis of Spivak theory in view of feminism. Based on a deep understanding and elucidation of her seemingly complex and complicated theory, the author of this thesis tias expouded, in combination with Spivak抯 choice inheritance, criticism and expansion of the traditional feminism, the extraordinary value and significance of her theory in the development of feminism.The thesis begins with arranging of Spivak theory to point out what has been neglected and what is inadequate in the research on spivak theory especially in China. Then, it analyze the necessity of further research on the t he ( ~ r y.Spivak theory is the one with (Thy i ous transubject i ye and t canschool features. For the special status of Spivak as a female scholar belonging to the third world, the thesis puts forward the point of view that l~ostcolonia 1 i sin and Feminism is the content and the end of the thorough process of the development of her thoughts, and Deconstruct ionism, Maxism, Mentalanalvsis are used as either efficient method or the objecfs understood or criticized by her.Discussing the value and feature of Spivak theory iii comparative ~S significant. The second part of the thesis makes detailed arrangement of spivak heory and makes a brief in t rnduc t ion of some of the i nipur tan 1. t rad it i ona I feminist schools. Then it makes comparisons between them one by one, and analyses the sharp shortcomings and insufficiency of the traditional theory. The thesis arrives at the conclusion that the spivak theory leads the feminism onto a comprehensive, rational and practical way, and that special emphasis must belaid on the value and significance of her theory from the perspective of postcolonialism on the development and perfection of feminism.Finally, the thesis makes brief analysis and elucidations of the value and sig!iificance of spivak theory.on the developing countryhinaconstruction and perfection of feminist theory.The last part of the thesis put more effort in elucidating the value and significance of Spivak theory to Chinese [eminism construction, it concluded that the national identity and social gender have been the focus of the world Ii terature theory in current context of post colonial and g I nba] i ed hits important practical value and academic significance of constructing and developing the feminism of the third world countries.
