Modem Chinese , continuum of (lie classic Chinese, carries on and develops the classic Chinese ,while the disparity and interconnection existing. Bi-objcct is a structure lives both in modern and classic Chinese, whereas , are they different or identical in (lie structure and meaning ?what is the motivation behind the changes if they are different? The answers of these question is what this thesis means to target at. Based on the language reality of the Preæ¡»in Chinese, deploying the Three Dimension Theory ,1 portray the bi-object ,and reveal die semantic features of die bi-objects in the Preæ¡»in Chinese .Further ,1 interpret these findings and yield that the essential nature of the grammatical structure which shows the relationships between the form and meaning of the grammatical structure from a side perspective.Nevertheless, without a theoretical guidance and assumption , 1 can not give an objective picture ,because of the absence of a proper hypotlicsis about (lie bi-objccls. The prerequisite of predicting the bi-objects in classic Chinese is to set up a category for object, but the object has been a thorny problem in Chinese grammar .Therefore, the chapter one is spent in analyzing the origin of this problem then armed with these achievements obtained by the predecessors, I conclude a category for the object ,umting form and meaning ,that the typical object is a direct component of the predicate, which possesses a choice-making relation with the verb of predicate ,The choice-making relation in essence ,is a transitivity which is built up by the process and participants, and establish in the object concept of prototype theory. in order to set up the bi-objects category .The chapter two is devoted in the description of the bi-object structure in the Preæ¡»in Chinese .under the guidance of the category .laid down previously. I sort out two case of bi-object in the Preæ¡»in Chinese .according to the different semantic relations with in the verbs(V) .and divide the bi-object into Direct Object (DO) and Indirect Object(IO).A. V+IO+DO .B, V+DO+IO .Based on the sort of the object near the verb ,1 further expand my findings that A is a 'potent' structure, white B possesses pragmatic function. The Indirect Object characters the [+life] feature .Direct Object [+thing]. In tracing back the origin of this structure , 1 distinguish several types of structures , especially I put forward the opinion on the 'Dong (verb) ?Zhi ?Ming (noun)'slructurc. Finally ,1 point out one distinct type of bi-object: IO+V+DO.hi chapter three, 1 describe the relation of the semantic restriction , the corresponding relations between semantic component and the grammatical pares . hi fact , I try to interpret these relations from the inside of language structure watching out (lie importance the verb possessed in the structure , I conclude the following types of verbs m an view of verb's semantics. They are Gei Type . Gao Type, Qu Type,Wen Type, Chen Wei Type, and other two special types: Wei verb Type and Shi Vob Type. The bi-object snares common semantic feature, posing the index of direction, called 'phase' of verbs .The bi-object can be divided into right phase and left phase verb. Right phase verb leads to right direction, which means die dative getting something, including things, information and title etc; the left phase verb leads to left direction which means the sourse losing something. The whole meaning of the bi-object structure is to display the gains and loses. The meaning of the structure attaches valve to the verbs involving in the structure.fat chapter four, further investigation of the relation between form and meaning has been conducted, deploying the Valence Theory to study the typical bi-object in Pre-Qin Chinese. I find that these verbs2have three valences .requiring each of their matching party have three indispensable complementary components (nominative, collateral .accusative ) Different types of these verbs components possesses different semantic argument, be called semantic valence : Gei Type [ agen...
