Nominalization frequently occurs in EST writings to help to achieve a precise, concise, and accurate style. Different communication needs lead to its uneven distribution in different registers. The focus of this thesis is fixed on the nominalization of verbs in Nautical English.Following a theoretical study on nominalization, a statistical investigation into its distribution is conducted between NEC, MEE, MTE, T4, LOBA and BROWNA. The result demonstrates that the occurrence of nominalization in NEC is higher than that in general English and lower than that in MEE and MTE. Though there is an even distribution of nominalization in the total between NEC and T4, there is significant difference in both subject and action nominalization between them. Therefore the difference between them cannot be denied. Nautical English occupies a bordering position between other EST writings and general English as regards to the distribution of nominalization.
