The attributives which are the modifiers of the prejudiced constructions of noun always modify their own centres in the syntactic perspectives, the attributives which are called indirect attributives sometimes have relations to other syntactic elements in the semantic perspectives although they usually also modify their own centres as in the syntactic perspectives. The purpose of vhe thesis is to research on the indirect attributives. There have been piecemeal researches on the indirect attributives, but they are not deep, lacking systermactic and all-round exposition.Based upon Clause Centre Theory, this thesis is trying to research on the indirect attributives from three different aspects so as to find out their particular features and functions. Firstly, we research on and classify the semantic references of the indirect attributives in detail, and try to reveal the rules and the constraits of the semantic references of the indirect attributives. Secondly, the thesis tries to reveal the construction constraits and the features of the indirect attributives from the semantic categories, and gives some explainations from the point of views of congation. Thirdly, the particular functions of the indirect attributives, that is, generalization and emphasis are summarized.
