A Study On The Humanities In Jia Pingao's Novels

Jia Ping'ao is one of the important writers in the new period of Chinese contemporary literature. His novels directly reveal the historic fate, moral character and consciences emotions of Chinese especially their transmutation of human nature in the social change. Moreover, the thoughts of human nature and humane solicitude constitute the unique and profound literary value of his novels.The thought of human nature in Jia Ping ao' s novels has a tendency of developing and changing. It experiences three important periods. During the early period, by revealing the good character and personality of the people in Shangzhou mountain, he sings praise of the truth , goodness and beauty of human nature . During the second period, by beginning with the conscience of sex, he deplores the oppression and super difficulties man has to endure on the journey to perfect human nature and begins to doubt about the traditional human nature. In 1990s, Jia mainly discusses the loss of human nature in the value-changing age, and tries to criticize the weakness of human nature and expresses subtle hope in saving human nature.The aesthetic features of the thoughts of human nature in Jia' s novels can be mainly classified into two models.These models are not independent but in harmony and this thus makes Jia' s novels possess special aesthetic value.The thoughts of human nature in Jia' s novels mainly derive from three aspects: his first thought of human nature was initiated by the history, culture, social habit and scenery in Shangzhou and he saw the fine side of human nature from its people; Chinese traditional culture affected his thought of human nature greatly and placed him into a dilemma. On one hand he is a man of tradition, on the other hand he saw the embarrassment of tradition under the attack of modernity while western culture made him see the shortcomings and weakness of Chinese traditional human nature.Jia Ping ao' s novels attract so much attention just 'because of his new approach of combining the modern concept with the traditional Chinese culture in literature writing. He is strongly influenced not only by the tradition of Chinese culture, but also by the Western modern concept. His novels have a deep root in Chinese literature and have bright colorings of the modern times.In a word, the thoughts of human nature and the deep humane solicitude about modern Chinese in Jia' s novels have significant meaning either nowadays or in the future.
