The Macanese Patois was generated in Macao from the 16th century. Although it was limited within the Macanese. It showed Macao to be a multicultural region engaging with Chinese and Western civilization. The generation of the Macanese Patois played an important role in the development of the languages of Macao. Patois cannot be neglected if we wish to study the history and languages of Macao.The Macanese Patois was based on Portuguese and absorbed a lot of "borrowed words" during the process of its development. This included Cantonese, Malay, Indonesian, Indian and English words. Amongst these "borrowed words", Cantonese was one of the languages that mostly influenced the Patois an important point which is stated in this essay.In this essay, I have applied methods of investigation and interviews in order to collect information from the elderly Macanese people and written records. Then I have classified the materials obtained and selected the characteristic and representative words in order to compare the significance of the Macanese Patois word borrowing from Cantonese. This has been assisted by examples indicating the peculiarity of the acception.This essay is based on history, society, civilization and languages of Macao as well as the endeavor of the use of linguistic theory. The study and analysis of the status and the cause of acceptable systematically borrowing is mentioned with an aim of investigating the Patois Cantonese use of "borrowing words". As well as to provide actual materials for the study of Patoa, Cantonese, dialectology and linguistics, in order to obtain the objective factors of the birth, development and cessation of the Patois.
