The thesis is divided into three parts: preface, a comparison of current Chinese characters between Korea and China, conclusion. In the first part, the author clarifies the reason why the current Chinese characters in Korea and in China are different, and shows the necessity & the importance to launch a comparative study of Chinese characters in these two countries, and introduces the scope & the main content of the thesis.Chinese character is one of the oldest writing which is still current in the world. There are near 13 hundred million people who use Chinese characters. Besides in China, Chinese character is also used in Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia and some districts in Asia & in America.Because of the different language, different history, different culture & different language policy of these countries and districts where Chinese characters are used, the scope and forms of Chinese characters in these countries and districts are different. The thesis introduces the different development > the different application and the different policy of Chinese characters in Korea and in China, gives the reason why Chinese characters are different in these two countries. The difference between Chinese characters in Korea and in China means:1) Simplified Chinese characters are current in China and the original complex form of a simplified Chinese character is current in Korea.2) Choose different variant form of a Chinese character to be a standard Chinese character.3) New form of a Chinese character is used in China & the old form of it is used in Korea. The difference was not so important in the epoch when the science and economy was undeveloped, but now the highly global information epoch and the automation epoch of Chinese characters processing is coming. The difference becomes a great barrier to information exchange and cultural exchange, and so on. If there is a commonly used form and meaning of a Chinese character in the countries and districts where Chinese characters are used, it will be very useful to communication, economy & trade, industry and information, etc. So it is very important for the countries concerned to cooperate with each other to study the unification of the forms of Chinese characters. The object of study in this thesis is 1,800 Chinese characters which are included in the "Elementary Chinese characters of Education". The authormakes an emphatic study on the difference of the forms of Chinese characters in Korea and in China, and makes a comparison of the similarities & differences between the stroke, the stroke order, the indexing component, and so on, of Chinese characters with the same forms. In the second part, the author points out that there are 1,799 Chinese characters are both used in Korea and in China. She analyses these Chinese characters and divides them into three categories, and according to these three categories, she makes a detailed statistics and reaches a conclusion of 10 statistical graphs. The author still makes a comparison between the differences of the stroke count, the stroke order and the indexing component, and come to a conclusion of 13 statistical graphs. As an appendix, the table of the indexing component of Korea and China is added at the end of this thesis. In the third part, the author makes an induction and an analysis of the statistical data, and come to the following conclusion:1) There are 1,139 Chinese characters out of 1,799 Chinese characters which have the different forms in Korea and in China. There is such a great difference between the standard print forms of the current Chinese characters in Korea and in China, the department concerned must take it seriously.2) The level of the difference is not the same among 1,139 Chinese characters which have the different forms. There are 506 Chinese characters out of 1,139 Chinese characters which only have a subtle difference between their forms. There is a hope to unify the form after a sincere consultation of two countries. There are 633 Chinese characters out of 1,139 C...
