| With the development of society and the advances of science and technology,all subjects as well as design arts are continuously spreading to relevant fields. As a branch of design art,the design psychology is still in the stage of being gradually removed and divided from the psychology. In the strict sense,as an independent subject,the design psychology is at the beginning period,which is incomplete and immature. But essays on design psychology are still inadequent. Some articles only mention parts of the mental phenomena in the processes of design. They are not enough or systematical,in particular short of questing for the historical,inheritance of famous,psychological schools,so that this newly-developed subject appears convincing without the succession related to history and the support of theories.Along with the coming of empress industry ages,information increases with the geometric progression. Internet changes the world and the way we accepted the world,it makes design as important as air for us. We can feel it everywhere in our lives. Whit the changes of time,connotation of design has ranged from the earliest "symbol of marks " to the more extensive meaning of " reforming people's life style". Meanwhile with the coming of information age,new ideology and techniques put new content into design art. Therefore,it's enriched. This also leads design psychology to a wider field. In a way,design is a process,which turns design elements (point,line,side,color,Colic etc.) into a kind of information and a special language (code) and spreads it to the masses. During the process,there is a conversion of information,which depends not only on the designers,mental control to environment but also on the public response to this kind of special language. The history of human development is also from diagrams to symbols and to literacy. Because of the rapid pace of society and the acceleration spreading,there is a tendency to go back to symbols. However,as far as the author of this paper,it's not a recession but a symbol based on highly abstract. This is the task,which was carried down by history.Modern design has not only the business function,but more important the mental function that depends on civilization (including some long-run,strategically,brand consciousness),so the design spread can be more effective and long lasting. Under this background,designers should be dedicated tostudying the design psychology in order to find reasonable expression way. Gestalt psychology,which was originated in German in the 1920's and later spread to America,not only affected the education in America and Europe but also impacted the western design profession till now. In China,a few experts are working on the research. The most authoritative one is Gao Jueru,an eminent psychologist. It is professor Chen Hanqing who first introduced Gestalt psychology into industry design. In diagram design's field,Professor Lin Jiayang of Wuxi Industry Institute applied this concept usefully into practice and teach-studying. This article aims to make a further search,along with these scholars's footprint,for the Gestalt psychology's influence to design art its future tend.By tracking down the source and theatrical background of Gestalt psychology,this essay gives a history line connecting Gestalt psychology with design art,Gestalt's theory and its application in the diagram design. It emphasized on Gestalt's influence on modern design and the same-structure different-essence theory's application. The whole article is divided into five parts. Chapter 1 is an introduction that simply tells what Gestalt psychology is and its use on design art;concerned with elemental theory of Gestalt,which includes background,fundamentals of Gestalt,and objects,methods of this subject. Chapter 2 describes the organizing rules of Gestalt's construction and how to design it.
