Building Humanist Rationality About Environmental Ethics

As compared to the traditional ethics, which is with people's interrelationships as its topic, the environmental ethics centers on the relationship between people and the environments. Meanwhile, this transition of ethics is in fact the transition of thinking way from the one by traditional ethics to the one by environmental ethics. It is a question concerning the unity of science rationality and of facts and value. As a result, studying the question of building humanist rationality about environmental ethics will not only enrich the theory of since and technology philosophy and, but also has realistic significance to human's sustainable development.The first part of the paper devotes to the relationship between traditional ethics and traditional science rationality, and the conclusion is as follows: the traditional science rationality embodies mechanical view of nature, results in the opposition between people and nature and between facts and value, and is the thinking way by traditional ethics dealing with the relationship between people and nature.The following part is a discussion of the question that humanist rationality is the thinking way which adapts environment ethics. Topics it discusses include: the reflection on the relationship between nature and people, which arises from the ecological crises, is the seed of environment ethics; humanist rationality is the thinking way by environment ethics.Then the paper illustrates the base and preconditions of the humanist rationality. These are the time attribute of science. It is preconditions of building humanist rationality to realize time attribute of science as the kind existing way of people. At the same time, the regional feature of people's activities, harmony of regional life unity is real base of building humanist rationality.
