The Study Of The Traditional Culture And The Development Of The Zhuang Nationality In GuangXi

My essay is one part of the important theme of national social sciences in the ninth Five-year plan,"The Traditional Culture of the Nationalities in GuangXi and their Development in Modern Time". My essay includes eight chapters and there are four articles in appendix.The total number of words in the essay is more than 110,000.The history of Zhuang nationality and the special features of the traditional culture are introduced briefly in the first chapter,. The author concludes that there are three special features of the traditional culture: the agricultural culture, the sinicised culture and the feature that plure things merge into an organic whole.The traditional education of Zhuang nationality is analyzed on the base of the functional socialism in the second chapter. The author discussed the main functions of traditional education, such as socialization, social control, distribution, assimilation, revolution etc. the essence of the traditional education of Zhuang nationality should be inherited and enhanced.The third chapter introduces the history and the basic program briefly firstly. Then the important part of this chapter is the discussion of the special marriage of Zhuang nationality. There are new opinions on the these custom issues, for example, the contrast between the son-in-law in the Zhuang society and the Han society, the discussion of the custom of crying in marriage and long-living in mother's family. There are two articles in the appendix to discuss the custom of the long-living in mother's family in details. One of them has been published and the other has won the honor in one of the contests of postgraduates. And then, the author points out the features of traditional family. There is an article written about the state of the women in the Zhuang family and the Han family in the appendix.The fourth chapter is the discussion of the custom of funeral affairs. There are some new opinions about the issues, such as the origin of the custom of the burial in the ground. The author advises to reform the custom in order to protect the nature ad to satisfy the need of the development of the society.The author discusses the relation between the festivals of Zhuang nationality and the worship of Zhuang nationality in the fifth chapter. And the custom of singing place is also introduced in this chapter.The sixth chapter discusses the features of Zhuang culture: the custom of clothing, eating, housing and transportation. There some advices about the how to inherit these cultures.The seventh chapter discusses the institution of commander and the institution of chieftain. And the conclusion is that there existed the patriarchal clan system in Zhuang society.The author discusses unsettled problems of the cliff drawing in final chapter, for example.the period.the nationality.the topic,etc. and introduces the bronze drum from several respects.In a word, the author discusses some respects of the traditional culture of Zhuang nationality in Guang Xi and advises to reform the culture in order to serve for the development of Zhuang nationality in modem time.
