Historical writing is a writing skill of historians by which historical facts are faithfully written down. The historical writing of Records of Historians has three characteristics:1. In narrow sense,imagining and processing reasonably historical details is the basic character of the fictional writing of Records of Historians. Its functions are shown chiefly in portraying persons:1. It shows the figure's major features through portraying his minor aspects and therefore predicts the developing tendency of his character;2. It brings out the crucial point through adding a word or two and hence highlight the figure's dominant character;3. It can be used to exaggerate atmosphere and personage's emotion.The historical writing and the fictional writing of Records of Historians are complementary to each other. While faithfully and vividly describing history and figures,it expresses the author's feeling naturally. We call this style historical romanticism.
