Hezhou , located on the border between Gansu and Qinghai provinces, has long since been the region where many minority nationalities live in compact communities. In this miraculous area live over 10 nationalities such as the Han, Hui, Tibetan, Dongxiang, Tu , Salar , Yugu, Boan, Mongolian and Kazak etc. Due to ethnic coexistence and their friendly contacts, cultures and arts there are of great variety and color. Hezhou is the sea of folklores, as well as the birthplace of "Huaer" well-known in the Northwest of China.This paper makes an initial study on the Feast Music widely spread among peoples of Hui, Dongxiang, Boan, Salar who believe in Islam in Hezhou, based on certain investigation, research and analysis, with the reference to the unique customs of respective peoples.There are three parts in the paper. The first part elaborates the nationalities, their folkways and the folk literature and art characterized by the locality. The second one deals with the classification of all the Feast Music and their ways to show according to their origins distribution and skills of performance. The third part attempts to make thorough analysis on the libretto, melody and music structures of each kind of Feast Music, then arrives at an conclusion that the Feast Music is the product of ethnic harmony, the merging of their customs and cultures and art, as well as the historical witness of the friendly unity and long-term coexistence of all nationalities there.
