Research On College Students' Anxiety Level And Its Influential Factors

In this new era, it is of great practical value to make an accurate survey on college students' anxiety over a variety of matters to make a detailed analysis on the influential factors and find relevant solutions. And what's more, the results may provide scientific basis for the university psychological scholars and educators for the enforcement on psychological consultation and quality education.It is reported that anxiety results from self-awareness, according to many researches that's to say, when you feel the external threatening forward your self-esteem, but you are at a loss to deal with it, then anxiety appears, accompanied by worrisome, relaxation, scare, nervousness and so on. Many of the domestic scholars have made a detailed study of collage students' anxiety, and most of them hold the view that much anxiety comes from learning pressure and social relations. However, there is a small defect in their research that they haven't taken all the relevant influential factors into consideration.This research has adopted Zung's SAS, which is used to test the anxiety level among subgroup college students, And has worked out the questionnaire on college students anxiety influential factors, which fully reveals the causes for the formation of college students' anxiety. The reliability of this questionnaire is 0.78, and its' validity is also good. The discrimination of the most items is very high. The questionnaire consists of 6 parts and they are anxieties over economy, health, study, employment, social interactions and self-development.Conclusions of this research are, (1) There is a significant difference between today's college students' SAS level and the national average. (2) When compared between different majors and grades in SAS, noticeable difference appears. (3) Boy students are more likely to be influenced by the factors as economy, social interactions and self-development than girl students. (4) Students from rural areasare more liable to be affected by economic factors; in contrast, students from urban areas are much troubled with health problems. (5) As far as different college majors are concerned ,three factors as economy ,study and employment have contrasting influences on them . While ,to college students in different grades ,four factors as study employment ,social interaction and self-development have contrasting influences on them . (6) The correlation between Zung's SAS and the questionnaire on college students' anxiety influential factors is very significant.The main disadvantage existed in this research is that the questionnaire is to be improved.
