| Homonym problem was put forward in the course of Chinese reform of a writing system. A lot of people think it is a obstacle which can't be overcome of Chinese alphatetic writing. With the development of times, in present information society,some expert call upon in Chinese information processing realizing"digraphia", in order to improve the efficiency of the Chinese information processing,so homonym problenm brings people's attention again. Homonym problem which we will mainly discuss in this text is Chinese alphatetic writing, show as homograph in the written language,so we call it homonym with homograph,in order to distinguish with the homonym in text of Chinese character now. This paper attempt to study the question of nature, source, distinguishing of the homonym and same problems in the Chinese information processing. With the analysis of homonymh and homograph in classical chinese,modern Chinese and modern English, we can know the problem of homonym correctly, and dispel"the thought of homonym is frightened", and offer the support in theory for realizing" digraphia".The thesis is divided into the following several parts:IntroductionIn this part,we introduce homonym's background and course which homonym was produced. We also introduce homonym problem's study that from the theoretic and static research develop into dynamic state and applicative research gradually. People's study on homonym is scientific further. At the same time, propose main research purpose, meaning and content of research of this text too.Part one: general situation of homonymIn this part ,we go on the research that determine the nature of homonym. First of all, define meaning of homonym,and the relation of homonym,homograph and polysemy. Secondly,we have analysed the reason why the homonym produces . Moreover,we have carried on the careful classification to the homonym.Part two: comparison of the homonym in the languageWe have carried on statistical analysis and comparison of homonym and homograph in some dictionary among English, classical Chinese and modern Chinese. We have studied how high the tolerance degree to the homonym in the language is. Through comparative analysis,we find homonym unanimous on the whole proportion of modern Chinese and English.Part three: homonym is language problem, it isn't character's problemThrough analyse between spoken language and written language, relation of languageand characters, we realize homonym is the problem of the language, not of characters, not even the problem of Chinese alphabetic writing. Chinese alphabetic writing can write down mandarin as written language accurately, the written language can reproduce mandarin originally. Since mandarin has no homonym to be confused, the written language writing by Chinese alphabetic writing has no homonym to be confused too.Part founstudy of the homonym's distinguishingFirst of all, we have confirmed the range of the homonym which should be distinguished. Secondly, we propose two kinds of methods to distinguish the homonym method of lexical writing form distinguishing and pronunciation distinguishing. Then compare these two kinds of methods to distinguih homonym. We think the method of lexical writing form distinguishing dosen't accord with the three principles of Chinese alphabetic writing,so it is a kind of unreasonable method.The method of pronunciation distinguishing accord with this three principles, itself is a part of Chinese standardization, it is a kind of reasonable method .Part five: the homonym of Chinese alphabetic writing and orthography " Orthography " means the physique and application standard of the characters . Homonym is a language problem, it isn't a problem of the characters. Chinese alphabetic writing's orthography should not have the content of distinguishing on the homonym.
