Mr. Zhou Youguang, a famous linguist of China, has achieved a great deal in themodernization of Chinese language. In the past half century and more, he worked hard inthe field of spoken and written language, published 300 research papers and more than 30works, exerted an extensive influence at home and abroad. Mr. Zhou's academic thought isvery abundant. He gave Chinese modernization a scientific and overall explanation. Histheories occupy an important position in the field of Chinese modernization, and have asignificant guidance to Chinese modernized in the new century. On the basis of Mr Zhou'sachievement, this paper plans to do an overall and deep study on his academic thought.Vertically, combine the theory and practice of the Chinese reform in the past century,consulting the main theory and practice of Qian Xuantong , Zhao Yuanren , Lu Shuxiang,Wang Li, Lu Xun ,etc, aims to probe into the influence of his academic thought to Chinesemodernization. Horizontally, combine the present situation of Chinese modernization, aimsto probe into the guidance meaning of his academic thought to the work of Chinesemodernization in the century. It is hoped that this paper can offer some theoreticalThe paper is divided into the following four parts:Introduction:This part aims to give a brief introduction to Zhou Youguang, and points out thesignificance, thinking and purpose of this paper .Part one:Mr Zhou's main research and practice in spoken and written languages applicationThis part gives a comment on Mr. Zhou's achievement in spoken and writtenlanguages application. It can be divided into three parts: First, Study on Chinese alphabeticwritting, including his participating in the formulation and popularization of Scheme forthe Chinese Phonetic Alphabet, proposing " three principles of Scheme for the ChinesePhonetic Alphabet", and the theory of "three is not ", striving for the application in theworld of Chinese Phonetic Alphabet. Second, the study on the regularization ofcontemporary Chinese characters, including the study of the theory of contemporaryChinese Character, the study of the amount of Contemporary Chinese Characters, the studyof graphonetics of contemporary Chinese Characters, and the study of the simplificationand arrangement of contemporary Chinese Characters. Third, the study on Chineseinformation processing: he put forward "dual track system of Chinese informationprocessing", and proposed the thought of "utilizing difference law of Chinese to avoidchoosing with yard ". His study and practice play an important role in Chinesemodernization. Part two : Zhou's inheritting and development of the theory of Chinese Characters reform This part proves Mr. Zhou's inheritting and development of the China's Chinese modernization through the longitudinal comparison. Divided into three parts, first , inheriting and development of the thoery of the orthography of Hanyu :Participate in the research of basically regular of the morphology, on the basis of the forefathers study, have proposed the systematic and overall theory . Second, inheriting and development of the theory of the homonym :Confirmed the rang of the homonym and put forward the method to distinguish the homonym. Third, inheriting and development of the theory of the chronicity and step of Chinese characters reform. Mr. Zhou fully realizes the chronicity of Chinese characters reform, he recommended that Chinese characters reform will go on step by step. Furthermore, he proposed inserting Chinese alphabetic writing in the Chinese characters, as to the step practice of Chinese characters reform. These theories have got new development in the Mr. Zhou's academic thought. This is Mr. Zhou's contribution to the Chinese modernization.
