A Study On The Language In Bronze Inscriptions Of The Shang Dynasty

Bronze inscription is an important stage in the development process of Chinese characters. The system research of bronze inscription began with Song Dynasty. And the study on it has obtained relatively remarkable achievements from since Song Dynasty. But the research about its language and characters, especially the research of the vocabulary and grammar, is still very weak. Comparing with the research about the language in inscriptions on bones or tortoise , there is great disparity in research of bronze inscription. As a stage at the beginning of the development of bronze inscriptions, the language and characters of bronze inscription of the Shang Dynasty is few people studied. In this thesis, the language situation of the bronze inscription of the Shang Dynasty has been probed tentatively.The thesis includes three chapters:Chapter one: the vocabularyThis part divides the bronze inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty into several parts, briefly describes the situation of every kind of word, describes and analyzes the system of the meaning of a word and polymerization of a word of bronze inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty.Chapter two: the grammarThis part analyzes the speech, phrase, sentence pattern and sentence composition of bronze inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty.Chapter three: the comparison of bronze inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty and other materialThis part makes a simple comparison of some content of bronze inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty , inscriptions on bones or tortoise and bronze inscriptions of Xi Zhou, such in ShangShu ShangShu (《尚书·商书》 ) and attempts to find out the similarities and differences between them.
